Moms, this one is for you. I just feel the need to share with you a little story told to me by my friend, Lindsay. When she was young, Lindsay and her mother developed lots of traditions, many of which she carried on to her own life as a mother. One was singing a duet with her mom–the same song every year–in church. When she became a mother, she sang the part of the mom and her daughter took on the part she had sang as a child. It took everything out of her not to burst into tears as she sang the lines, “I know the time will quickly come when I must let you go, but seeds of truth within your heart were planted long ago. So reach for your dreams, for every good thing, depending on my love, my dear daughter.” Those words rang so true as she reflected how quickly her own childhood had passed for her mother and how quickly her children’s was passing right before her eyes. That day in church she realized that she needed to capture every moment she could and create memories with her own children before their years of youth and innocence were gone.
Sometimes the best memories are created in singing, or laughing, or just being together. I love time spent in the kitchen with my kids. They love to learn everything I have to teach them, and of course I would never claim to be a gourmet chef! But, even if it’s something as simple as cooking up a batch of pancakes or dipping strawberries in chocolate, those moments are what our kids (and us mothers) are going to remember and treasure. So, here’s to you, mothers everywhere! You are so loved and we hope you know, not only on this special day, but every other day as well, how very much you are treasured! Happy Mother’s Day!!

Looking for some fun new recipes to add into your chocolate chip cookies? Try substituting your regular chocolate chips for Velata chocolate! I even have a step by step recipe for you to try!
First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
You will need:
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 Velata chocolate chips
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 c flour
First, pick your Velata chocolate. I chose dark but any chocolate would be fine.
Next, cut your Velata chocolate disks into quarters. It will be easier to use them in the dough.
Star by mixing all ingredients, except for the flour and Velata chocolate chips, until creamy. I use the Shelf Reliance scrambled egg mix instead of real eggs. It’s super easy to use and you can lick the bowl without worry of salmonella poisoning.
Next, add in the flour and then Velata chocolate chips until well mixed.
